Our quiet Halloween

We know that there will be innumerous opportunities for Marta and Liliana to dress up and go out trick-or-treating with friends in the future, so we are in no rush to expose them to the gory costumes you see out there nor to the amount of sugar children come back home with. Our Halloween went just as planned, quiet and just a little bit scary! We brought our jack-o-lanterns to our dinner table and lit them up, turned off all the lights and had a lovely supper. For desert we had pumpkin shaped home made chocolate chip cookies. We sang Halloween songs and talked about ghosts and witches… and that was enough to get both girls healthily scared. I got the idea of painting the tangerines here.

Our favourite Halloween songs:

From ghosties and ghoulies
and long-legged beasties
and creatures that go (thump) in the night,
oh Lord deliver us.

***

Here lie the bones of lazy Fred
Who spent his precious time in bed
Some plaster fell upon his head
And Lord be praised our  Fred is dead!

***

Have you seen the ghost of Tom,
Long white bones with the skin not on,
ooooh, ooooh, ooooh, oooh-oooh-oooh, ooooh, ooooh
Wouldn’t it be chilly with no skin on
